Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_9c907643_3cf2014d

Chris: What an idiot I've been. No, I don't feel bad for myself. I taught Isaac a fucking lesson to be learnt... the prick. At least when I'm back to work things will be a whole lot clearer, I hope. And no longer working for the Del Bosque gang. Huh? What's this?

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_9c907643_7cf20197

Chris: Malcolm Kaplinksy? Oh, of course... the chap who spoke to me when I encountered Rocco here in these cells... he was a strange chap. It's going to happen soon? Looks like this will be one wild and long journey, but it's going to pay off real good.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_9c907643_bcf201b4

Chris: Man, he must have left this in a hurry. Good to see it now I suppose...

They call him just a boy from the city. Operating with an overload of information. Chris is a cool guy...

... but even that doesn't stop the law whooping the law. A war. A civil war.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_9cf21047

Judge: Good morning, court. Today you're in the presence of myself, Judge David Barlow. Chris Osborne, better known to some as Detective Inspector Chris Osborne, is the defendant accused of the assault on Detective Inspector Isaac Noble. Just so everyone participating in today's case don't know, this trial will most definitely oblige to the Criminal Justice Act of 1943 under Section 7. Now, I hope this one isn't going to be a long one, and I reckon the verdict shall be inevitable jury, but listen hard. Thank you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_5cf20b17

Prosecutor: Good morning, court.
Judge: Name?
Prosecutor: Ms. Julie Wilcox, prosecution.
Judge: Continue as you were, Ms. Wilcox.
Prosecutor: Thank you, your honour. Sir, could you please tell the court your full name, police rank and address?
Chris: Detective Inspector Chris Anthony Osborne. I live at 14 Glennwood Way, Kimdon, Sondon.
Prosecutor: Repeat after me. I, Chris Anthony Osborne...
Chris: I, Chris Anthony Osborne...
Prosecutor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Chris: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Prosecutor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Chris: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Prosecutor: The whole truth...
Chris: The whole truth...
Prosecutor: And nothing but the truth.
Chris: And nothing but the truth.
Prosecutor: Thank you, Mr Osborne. It is said that on the 16th of July, 1967, you inflicted assault on Detective Noble. Do you understand?
Chris: Yes.
Judge: Ms. Wilcox, proceed with due course.
Prosecutor: Certainly, your honour. So, Mr. Osborne. You admit to have assaulted my client, correct?
Chris: Yes, I did.
Prosecutor: But we all know that you're guilty of such a thing, but we're not here for that reason to some extent, as I believe you wish to make a plea throughout the trial this morning?
Chris: I do.
Prosecutor: So, that day then Mr. Osborne, tell me in your own words what happened.
Chris: Well, I had just came back from an undercover date with Florence Hodgson, daughter of Kiefer Hodgson of whom worked under the syndicate under investigation and of which myself and Isaac had been working undercover for. I have to admit I was rather drunk, and that's partially down to the reason why I hit Isaac. Marion Cardenas, the leader of the Del Bosque gang, had revealed to me that Isaac had informed him of the planned assasination of Marion by Luisa Santiago of the Blackjack syndicate. I hurried to Isaac's house in anger, spoke to him before realising that money was on his dining table, and I presumed at the time that something wasn't right. I just lashed out at him. I didn't feel bad about it, I just walked away.
Prosecutor: What did you feel wasn't right, Chris? I hope you understand that under the influence of alcohol can disrupt your thoughts, feelings and emotions rather significantly?
Chris: I understand.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_5cf20b2d

Prosecutor: So tell me, why do you think it was wrong for my client to be in possession of that money?
Chris: Firstly, who places money on their dining table? And secondly, it was a lot of it. I was lead to believe that Isaac was sorting the money before I arrived, either that or it hadn't been there long.
Prosecutor: My client claims that the money was of a job from Marion Cardenas recently, but you believed otherwise?
Chris: Yes, I believed otherwise too right. I can remember of my police govenor and Chief of Police Detective Superindentant Ian McPherson had insisted I take money from a job previously, instead of handing it over for the government's use, and I knew Isaac had took the money when I refused. Therefore I believed that this money was from an even earlier job of which Ian had possessed Isaac with.
Prosecutor: But, recieving money from Mr. Cardenas after a job and not having you but only my client there to recieve the money, it makes sense doesn't it, surely?
Chris: No, not to me it doesn't. Not at all. I smelled something rotten in the air as soon as I step foot in the house.
Prosecutor: A lot of name-dropping already, Mr Osborne? Florence Hodgson, Kiefer Hodgson, Marion Cardenas, Luisa Santiago, Ian McPherson, it most definitely won't leave you with many friends as the court case concludes, will it? Tell me more about Ian McPherson, his relationship with yourself as opposed to my client, and the topic of the money.
Chris: It all started when we, or rather Isaac... did his first job for Marion Cardenas. There was myself, Isaac, Rod Barker and Felix Tanner all working undercover at Marion's casino when Isaac went to the men's restroom and Cardenas' men attempted to beat him. Isaac beat them, and Marion offered us §5,000. Ian took the cash, and separated it into two §2,500 bundles for both myself and Isaac. Isaac took the cash, while I... after a long hard thinking session, I refused it. I believe that Isaac is still recieving money under Ian's fortune, and keeping it from the government too. He even admitted he was using the cash to pay off his debts, he loaned a lot of money to fund his treatments.
Prosecutor: Treatments for what, Mr Osborne?
Chris: Ian had cancer.
Prosecutor: I see. You've no proof though that Ian would give the money to my client, and if that were true, surely he'd keep the money for his own good use?
Chris: I don't know, but Ian has always stuck close to Isaac, considerably more than myself and the others. Why would Isaac keep the money for so long if it was Marion's? That can't make sense.
Prosecutor: Mr. Osborne, my client claims that he told Mr Marion that Luisa Santiago, who you had mentioned... was going to kill Marion?
Chris: Yeah, he told him alright. And it was far too soon, not even with Ian's order. Ian is the Chief, he makes these decisions.
Prosecutor: I'm afraid I'll have to correct you on that one.
Chris: How?
Prosecutor: My client revealed to me that Mr McPherson DID order my client to inform Mr Cardenas.
Chris: YOU WHAT!?

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20aaf

Victor: (Whispers) Oh, that FUCKING idiot!
Rod: This is all we need, we knew that Ian was corrupt, but it's official that he's obviously working along with Isaac.
Felix: This is one proper fucked up mess, already. I knew not so many of us should have gotten involved in this operation...
Victor: It was a big operation, Felix. We had no choice.
Felix: But we didn't have a choice, didn't we!? And you know why that was?
Rod: Ian McPherson.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20b45

Prosecutor: I have no further questions, your honour.
Judge: Thank you.
Chris: (Sighs)

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_bcf20b7b

Defense: Good morning, court.
Judge: Name?
Defense: Mr. Leonard Petersen, defense.
Judge: Continue as you were, Mr Petersen.
Defense: Thank you, your honour. Repeat after me. I, Chris Anthony Osborne...
Chris: I, Chris Anthony Osborne...
Defense: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Chris: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Defense: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Chris: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Defense: The whole truth...
Chris: The whole truth...
Defense: And nothing but the truth.
Chris: And nothing but the truth.
Defense: So, Mr Osborne. Let us prove my opposing solicitor, our dear friend of the prosecution, on Mr Noble's guilt. You've admitted to hitting Isaac and you're guilty of it, but we're here today to uncover whether it was the sensible thing to do or just drunken police brutality. Mr Osborne, could you tell me what Isaac was doing at the time of your arrival?
Chris: He was walking from one side of the room to the over, my guess is he was sorting the money in some way. I saw no bag, he wasn't placing the money into something... unless he hid it as soon as he saw me come in.
Defense: Hmm, that's a possible lead. Interesting. Mr Noble certainly was hiding something maybe? Ms. Wilcox, it may make sense if it were to be Marion's money, but please... don't be stupid. (Chuckles) It makes good sense if it was Ian's cash. A corrupt chief you say? Does anyone in this room ever remember a Chief of the Sondon Metropolitan Police who was ever clean of corruption? No, I don't either. Mr McPherson and Mr Noble are taking sides. I wouldn't be surprised if there was already arguing within the police underworld? Am I correct?
Chris: Yes, you're correct.
Defense: Beautiful. So you was drunk yes?
Chris: I believe I was.
Defense: When you're drunk, kids... you forget what it's like to be drunk. Everything looks a mile away, your concentration is a past function and all you have is your struggling brain and your confused eyesight. You can not throw a punch on someone if you were completely drunk. Our defendant here only perhaps drank one or two, am I correct?
Chris: Yes, I think I did.
Defense: Well, I guess that's that covered. I don't recall one or two as being drunk. Within one drink you're still in the drink and drive limits, I don't see that as drunk, your honour. My client was purely destined to do what he did to Mr Noble.
Judge: Stop fannying around and interrogate the defendant, Mr Petersen. You're trying my patience and at the moment I don't have a lot of it.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20b9f

Defense: Your wish is my command, your honour. So, Mr Osborne... Ian admitted to using the money for his treatment?
Chris: Yes.
Defense: Ian gave Isaac money before?
Chris: Yes.
Defense: You found a lot of money in Isaac's house?
Chris: Yes.
Defense: Makes perfect sense to me, your honour. I have no futher questions.
Isaac: That prick is unbelievable. It might look that way but it's not what it is.
Prosecutor: How are you going to prove that, Isaac?
Isaac: I don't know.
Prosecutor: You'll have to think of something, quick.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_1cf20a99

Defense: How was that, Chris?
Chris: It went ok, I guess. Go on, interrogate that bastard. It's a lost cause though, I'm going down. Everyone knows I beat him, but that doesn't matter now.
Defense: Alright, I'll do my best.
Chris: I'm still a cop no matter what, I can do the talking from behind the bars, Petersen.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20bff

Prosecutor: Full name, rank and address please.
Isaac: Detective Inspector Isaac Stephen James Noble, 97 Renshaw Drive, Rottersmith, Sondon.
Prosecutor: Repeat after me. I, Isaac Stephen James Noble...
Isaac: I, Isaac Stephen James Noble...
Prosecutor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Isaac: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Prosecutor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Isaac: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Prosecutor: The whole truth...
Isaac: The whole truth...
Prosecutor: And nothing but the truth.
Isaac: And nothing but the truth.
Prosecutor: Thank you. Tell us what happened, Mr Noble... in your words on the night of assault.
Isaac: Sure. I was in my living room in fact when I was just contemplating with myself on the couch. I heard Chris barge in, that's why it looked like I was moving. I didn't even make contact with the money. In fact I was just about to tell him the money from Marion had arrived before he began to snap at me. He started accusing me of wrong things.
Prosecutor: Wrong things like what, Isaac?
Isaac: I think I remember him saying that I was a Del Bosque, and working for Marion. He thought I told him early because I was an undercover gang member already. He thought that 'we' was setting Chris up.
Prosecutor: And of course Ian ordered you to tell Marion?
Isaac: Yes, he did.
Prosecutor: Ok, continue.
Isaac: So, he also accused me of perhaps getting lucky at the casino. He also thought I may have a gambling addiction. Wrong, as well.
Prosecutor: Marion Cardenas gave the money to you?
Isaac: Yes.
Prosecutor: Well, I've got no further questions.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_1cf20c12

Defense: Repeat after me. I, Isaac Stephen James Noble...
Isaac: I, Isaac Stephen James Noble...
Defense: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Isaac: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Defense: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Isaac: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Defense: The whole truth...
Isaac: The whole truth...
Defense: And nothing but the truth.
Isaac: And nothing but the truth.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_9cf20c77

Defense: Thank you. So, Mr Noble, Mr Noble, Mr Noble...
Isaac: ...
Defense: You're telling everyone that Mr Cardenas gave you the money?
Isaac: Yes?
Defense: Why didn't you inform my client earlier, hmm?
Isaac: I guess I never got the chance.
Defense: Don't give me that, Mr Noble! You know well that you're swearing under the name of the law right now, and both you and Chris are detectives, you are the law. So, with both of you saying different stories, it looks like one of us isn't very loyal? I know exactly who isn't telling the truth.
Isaac: Sure you do. My lawyer does too.
Defense: Oh, does she now? Would she like to share that with us all?
Isaac: It's in me who she believes.
Defense: Oh, is it now!?
Judge: Mr. Petersen! Enough!
Defense: (Sighs) Mr Noble, why did you not tell my client earlier?
Isaac: Look - I was going to but... I knew he'd react like that. Ian had all the money he needed to pay off his treatment so he left it up to me to send it to the government. I didn't do it so soon and Chris saw the cash. There was nothing I could do.
Defense: Oh, so you didn't even have time to give it to the government now did you!? You wanted that money Isaac.
Isaac: No.
Defense: Ian didn't care about the money. He cared about you and wanted all what's best for you and him.
Isaac: No! Ian is very close to the government, he would want the money to get there.
Defense: THEN WHY THE HELL DID HE MAKE YOU RESPONSIBLE FOR IT!? And oh, I thought the government was corrupt anyway!? Oh! No surprise as to why they're best friends!
Judge: MR PETERSEN! IF YOU CONTINUE TO BEHAVE IN THIS MANNER THEN I SHALL ABOLISH THIS CASE IN ORDER TO BE AGAINST YOU! YOU'RE WASTING MY TIME!
Defense: It's Isaac here who should be on trial, as well as Mr McPherson. For a cop, you're a very nasty and corrupt one.
Isaac: And for a lawyer, you're a very loyal one to your client, don't you think? You've taken this too far.
Defense: Don't judge me, Noble! You're a swine!
Isaac: Oh, am I now!? We'll see about that one when your client is behind bars.
Judge: ENOUGH!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_bcf20ca8

Judge: Mr Petersen, I have no other choice than to warn you. This court is a place for sensible adults who can behave to reach the solution. Stop feeding nonsense into the minds of The Jury. Continue properly. NOW!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_7cf20c87

Defense: Well, Mr Noble. I apologize. It's right though that you and Ian are a team though isn't it?
Isaac: No.
Defense: I'm told by my client that the majority of the Criminal Investigation Department are against your actions, Mr Noble... and against Mr McPherson's also. This isn't the first time this city has had a corrupt Police Chief you know? Don't forget, you swore under the name of the law, Mr Noble.
Isaac: (Sighs)
Defense: I've no further questions, your honour.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_bcf20f04

Prosecutor: Your name, rank and address please?
Victor: Detective Chief Inspector Victor William Hobbs, I live at 14 Glennwood Way, Kimdon, Sondon.
Prosecutor: Thank you. Please repeat after me. I, Victor William Hobbs..
Victor: I, Victor William Hobbs...
Prosecutor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Victor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Prosecutor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Victor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Prosecutor: The whole truth...
Victor: The whole truth...
Prosecutor: And nothing but the truth.
Victor: And nothing but the truth.
Prosecutor: So, Mr Hobbs... tell us of your relationship with Mr Noble.
Victor: I think Isaac and myself can agree that we've never liked each other. I always told Chris as well, but I didn't want to feed my thoughts into his mind when still both him and Isaac were police partners.
Prosecutor: Why are you not good friends with my client, Mr Hobbs?
Victor: Because I always knew how corrupt he was and I once saw him at a club in 1964 of which he was smoking a cigarette, and I'm sure it had drugs of some kind stuffed in it.
Prosecutor: So this was the year before my client and Mr Osborne became partners, correct?
Victor: Correct.
Prosecutor: So why didn't you warn Mr Osborne or even the police before this happened?
Victor: They wouldn't believe me. A Vice-Chief is the worst position in a police hierarchy in the same way as second place is the worst of the losers. You never got listened to. Sometimes I didn't even get the respect or dignity I deserved.
Prosecutor: When was the last time you saw Chris before the night of the assault?
Victor: The previous day. Chris' apartment had just burnt down and he needed somewhere to stay.
Prosecutor: Of course, you live in the same house, don't you?
Victor: Yes, that's correct.
Prosecutor: Ok, I've got no further questions for you, Mr Hobbs.
Victor: Thank you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_1cf20e7c

Defense: Repeat after me. I, Victor William Hobbs...
Victor: I, Victor William Hobbs...
Defense: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Victor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Defense: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Victor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Defense: The whole truth...
Victor: The whole truth...
Defense: And nothing but the truth.
Victor: And nothing but the truth.
Defense: Thank you. So, Mr Hobbs... you had always backed the majority of the Sondon Metropolitan Police and agreed that you should hold on a little bit longer before informing Mr Cardenas that Miss Santiago was after to kill him and also about dropping your masks to him and to conceal your identities. Of course, you're working undercover for Marion Cardenas?
Victor: Well, Chris and Isaac are.
Defense: Would anyone in this room know that if Chris goes down Mr Cardenas will find out about this and the whole operation shall become a shambles? Wrong if you ask me, Mr McPherson.
Judge: Mr Petersen...!
Defense: So, Chris' apartment was burnt I hear?
Victor: Yes, that's right.
Defense: And he came to you?
Victor: Yes.
Defense: Tell me, who did he think had done it?
Victor: I think he told me of Ivan Zharkov and Rocco Mendez perhaps burning it, they knew his address.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_fcf20e74

Defense: Tell me exactly who these two guys are.
Victor: They're members of The Blackjacks syndicate, lead by Luisa Santiago.
Defense: I see, but do you think Chris was absolutely sure of this? Because to be honest, as far as I can see, it looks like Isaac could have well done it too.
Victor: Isaac? I don't know.
Defense: I have no further questions for you, Mr Hobbs. Thank you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_5cf21298

Isaac: Oh, for heaven's sake... why is all the blame coming on me?
Prosecutor: This trial is backfiring, Isaac.
Isaac: Do something. Quick.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20f91

Prosecutor: Your name, rank and address please?
Rod: Detective Sargeant Rodney Barker, I live at 18 Moorland Avenue, Junefayre, Sondon.
Prosecutor: Thank you. Please repeat after me. I, Rodney Barker...
Rod: I, Rodney Barker...
Prosecutor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Rod: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Prosecutor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Rod: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Prosecutor: The whole truth...
Rod: The whole truth...
Prosecutor: And nothing but the truth.
Rod: And nothing but the truth.
Prosecutor: Thank you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20f7e

Prosecutor: So, Rodney Barker, what is your relationship with both my client and Mr Osborne?
Rod: I never hated Isaac and Chris is a good friend of mine, but after I heard what Isaac did, I trust the guys you know... I knew things wasn't right. He was acting suspicious anyway.
Prosecutor: Could you elaborate on 'suspicious' for me please?
Rod: Sure. He went from being his normal self til' about the time when we went to one of Marion's nightclubs.
Prosecutor: Go on...
Rod: Ian wasn't around so Victor thought that we should go out and have a bit of fun...
Prosecutor: Victor?
Rod: Yes.
Prosecutor: Ok.
Rod: So it was then when he was discussing his views on Felix and myself, and they weren't very nice. He thought we should pull our act together.
Prosecutor: Well, perhaps maybe you should have if it was hurting the operation. This is what my client tells me.
Rod: That's not for me to judge. That's down to Ian and Victor themselves.
Prosecutor: What do you know about Ian's relationship with everyone else? Surely as the kind Chief he is he takes care in anyone? What does it matter if he favours Isaac, after all, we don't like everyone the same. As long as you're all treated with the same respect, it doesn't matter, does it?
Rod: No. It's not like that. It gets to the point sometimes where it feels as if we're completely ignored by Ian. Isaac and Ian are all for one another. I don't see us personally getting treated with the same respect again.
Prosecutor: Ok. Tell me, Rod... where were you on the night that Isaac was attacked?
Rod: At the station.
Prosecutor: Anything more specific?
Rod: Hmmm, no.
Prosecutor: Alright, ok. How about this then... when was the last time you saw both Chris and Isaac? Were they together?
Rod: Ah, yes. That was it. The day before Isaac was beaten. He was acting suspcious. The day it happened he... he wasn't around at all. I think Chris mentioned seeing a glimpse of him but he didn't stick around long.
Prosecutor: (Sighs)
Rod: We had been assigned jobs by Ian himself when we came back. All things seemed well then, we was all friends and things. I think it was ever since we all knew who Isaac was after the point he was attacked when we all began to change our views on him.
Prosecutor: I see, I see. Ok Rod. Thank you. I have no further questions for you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_bcf20e36

Defense: Please repeat after me. I, Rodney Barker...
Rod: I, Rodney Barker...
Defense: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Rod: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Defense: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Rod: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Defense: The whole truth...
Rod: The whole truth...
Defense: And nothing but the truth.
Rod: And nothing but the truth.
Defense: Thank you. So, Mr Barker... you claim to have not seen Mr Noble on the day he was attacked, just after he had supposedly informed Mr Cardenas that Miss Santiago was about to hunt him down?
Rod: That's correct.
Defense: Marvelous. It seems a lot of suspicion was in the air concerning Isaac, correct?
Rod: That's right.
Defense: Do you have anything to add to Mr Noble burning the apartment of my clients?
Rod: No, I don't. I'm sorry.
Defense: Would you like to tell me where Isaac was at this time? Or perhaps if you don't know that, at least tell me when you last saw him.
Rod: That would be at the nightclub.
Defense: Oh! The nightclub where he spoke of you and Felix? He admitted to my client his views on you two? They weren't brilliant, were they?
Rod: Not as I recall, no.
Defense: Well, this certainly doesn't look promising for Mr Noble. Thank you Mr Barker. I have no further questions for you.
Rod: My pleasure.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_7cf20fe0

Isaac: Fucking bastard.
Prosecutor: I'm sorry, Isaac. I'll still try and get you out of this, but it's looking clear. Chris isn't guilty.
Isaac: But he still bloody hit me. He hit me hard too.
Prosecutor: He's not guilty of it though if he was right to do it. You did a lot to be sorry for, Isaac.
Isaac: I know, I know. But he still hit me.
Prosecutor: Come on, pull together.
Clerk: Would Felix Tanner please stand up to the witness box please...!
Isaac: Great, great!
Prosecutor: What?
Isaac: Felix Tanner. He doesn't experience anything like this everyday...
Prosecutor: Well I do, but the likes of you don't have to.
Isaac: No, what I mean is... well, he's not exactly the most co-operative person. Although, he had an argument with me recently... it seems he's changed a little. But, he could slip up here. This is our chance.
Prosecutor: Alright Isaac, alright. I'll try my best.
Isaac: Thanks.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_fcf20dc0

Prosecutor: Your name, rank and address please?
Felix: Detective Sargeant Felix Robert Tanner, I live at 97 Durdam Street, Saxon, Sondon.
Prosecutor: Thank you. Please repeat after me. I, Felix Robert Tanner...
Felix: I, Felix Robert Tanner...
Prosecutor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Felix: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Prosecutor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Felix: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Prosecutor: The whole truth...
Felix: The whole truth...
Prosecutor: And nothing but the truth.
Felix: And nothing but the truth.
Prosecutor: Thank you. So Mr Tanner, my client claims to not like you very much.
Felix: No, he doesn't. I don't like him neither.
Prosecutor: Tell me, Felix. Are you co-operative?
Felix: What is this, some kind of sick joke of Isaac's!? We hate each other but you know what, it's better to be hated than liked. Well, in some circumstances... like these.
Prosecutor: When was the last time you spoke to Isaac?
Felix: Quite recently, last week infact.. And I've got a lot to discuss.
Prosecutor: I will ask the questions, you answer them, Mr Tanner.
Felix: Well, alright.
Prosecutor: Do most of you hate my client?
Felix: Hate? Maybe a bit harsh, I know myself, Chris and Rod do, I don't know about the others...
Prosecutor: Ok. Has Chris ever shared his views on Isaac on anyone else other than you?
Felix: Rod and Victor of course. Victor hates him too, as you've heard.
Prosecutor: Well, Mr Tanner. I'll lead over to my friend at the defense to see if he has any questions of which you could share the topics of which you was about 'to discuss'.
Felix: I'm not stupid you know? I am a high-ranking police officer even though I've not reached the top in the C.I.D yet, lady.
Judge: Mr Tanner...!
Prosecutor: (Sighs) I have no further questions, your honour.
Judge: Thank you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_7cf20dfb

Defense: Please repeat after me. I, Felix Robert Tanner...
Felix: I, Felix Robert Tanner...
Defense: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Felix: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Defense: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Felix: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Defense: The whole truth...
Felix: The whole truth...
Defense: And nothing but the truth.
Felix: And nothing but the truth.
Defense: Thank you. So, Mr Tanner. Thank you for that plug as such, Ms. Wilcox. (Chuckles) Mr Tanner, when was the last time you met Isaac before today's trial?
Felix: Last week.
Defense: And what happened?
Felix: We spoke.
Defense: Tell the court everything you remember. Everything. (Smirks)
Felix: Well, Isaac and Ian, in a team formation of course... claimed that they would take action. Well, Isaac did rather. They would take action if Chris did not 'apologize' to Isaac for what he did.
Defense: Bribe, useless. I'm telling you, your honour. Mr Noble has guilt written all over him.
Judge: Mr Petersen, please let Mr Tanner continue. Thank you.
Felix: We had an argument. He said something to me. The words still stick in my mind right now. He said 'One big, useless lump that goes around in his fancy sports car with his fancy clothes and his fancy designer sunglasses and really thinks that he should rise above everyone else'. Isaac was saying how superior Rod is over me, so as a correction for that matter, Isaac and Rod were friends... but of course Rod is the latest of all detectives to join our side. Rod knows the truth now. Isaac is the useless lump. And for a lump, he's a smug one.
Defense: Did he make any references to his hatred for Chris?
Felix: Yep, he spanned the whole lot. He even assumed we was about to declare a civil war. The courts won't abide by that but, they've got no choice. There's nothing they can do. Isaac and Ian have to be out of their jobs soon.
Defense: Thank you very much for you help, Mr Tanner.
Felix: With pleasure!
Defense: I have no further questions for you.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_3cf21222

Ian: Oh, Patrick... this is looking juicy isn't it?
Patrick: Everyone seems to want you out of your job, Ian.
Ian: Yes well, I shall have to prove them wrong, shan't I? Victor's hopeless, no way will he take over me.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_1cf20d5c

Prosecutor: Your name, rank and address please?
Ian: Chief Superintendant John Edward McPherson, I live at 86 Rockham Avenue, Junefayre, Sondon.
Prosecutor: Thank you. Please repeat after me. I, John Edward McPherson...
Ian: I, Ian Edward McPherson...
Prosecutor: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Ian: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Prosecutor: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Ian: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Prosecutor: The whole truth...
Ian: The whole truth...
Prosecutor: And nothing but the truth.
Ian: And nothing but the truth.
Prosecutor: Thank you Mr McPherson. So, I believe your relationship with my client is rather good?
Ian: Well, I suppose there's no use denying it... yes, Isaac and I are very good friends.
Prosecutor: Marvelous. So, the money that lay on Isaac's table? Do you happen to know anything about that?
Ian: I don't. It definitely wasn't my money. I'm pretty sure it belonged to Marion Cardenas.
Prosecutor: I see. When was the last time you saw Chris before the attack?
Ian: At the station. He'd just came back from a job I had assigned him to, and he was in pretty good spirits as far as I saw.
Prosecutor: Tell me Ian, did you think this was how Chris would react?
Ian: No.
Prosecutor: How do you think he would react?
Ian: I'm sure he would just take it like everybody else did.

Ian: My pleasure.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_1cf20cea

Defense: Mr McPherson. Please repeat after me. I, John Edward McPherson...
Ian: I, John Edward McPherson...
Defense: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Ian: Shall swear upon this rightful law...
Defense: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Ian: That the evidence I shall share shall be the truth...
Defense: The whole truth...
Ian: The whole truth...
Defense: And nothing but the truth.
Ian: And nothing but the truth.
Defense: Thank you. Well well well... Mr McPherson. Where do I start with you?
Ian: Wherever you may please, Mr Petersen.
Defense: Ok then, if that's what you want. Chris and Isaac did a job for you, earned some cash, you gave Isaac some, my client refused it. Who did the sensible thing there?
Ian: (Sighs) Chris, I suppose. But it never happened again.
Defense: Oh, but we don't know that do we? Tell me, why do you get on with Isaac more than anyone else?
Ian: I've known him for longer, he understands me you know, I had cancer.
Defense: Oh, save the sob story. I'm sure you're past it. Why don't you like your fellow police colleagues?
Ian: Oh save me the thought, please. Of course I like them! They're loyal, kind, great guys to work with. We're one big happy family.
Defense: (Chuckles) So, why did you do it then?
Ian: Do what?
Defense: Order Isaac to inform Marion without telling anyone else about that? I know they're loyal to you, Mr McPherson... but you're not exactly repaying them with the kind of respect they deserve, are you?
Ian: No...!
Defense: It's official. You and Isaac are taking sides. It's not long before you realise that you're against the law of which you practically RUN in this country, not forgetting that you vowed to end the police corruption in this country once and for all. What do other countries think, Ian? Hey? The government can't handle their own police force? Oh of course, Sengland! A lovely, pretty country. Full of patriotic people. A great history. A great record. One of the most powerful countries on Alterra! But the government is absolute shite.
Judge: MR PETERSEN! THAT IS YOUR SECOND WARNING! BLASPHEME IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN IN MY COURTROOM.
Defense: Oh, please your honour. This is the most pathetic man I've ever met. I'll be quite honest with you.
Judge: This isn't interrogation, this is absolutely HUMILIATION!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20cdf

Defense: There's no use denying it, your honour! If my client is found guilty today then I've really had it. This isn't a tricky trial considering it was only an assault but oh good heavens has it spiralled off into something else. You want to know what the big topic of today has been? Corruption. A whole heap of it. Half of it is in fact sitting in this room. Your honour...
Judge: Yes?
Defense: Corrupt.
Judge: Mr Petersen...!
Defense: No, let me finish... you want to know who else? This prick here in front of me who claims to be the Chief Of Police...
Ian: (Sighs)
Defense: Not to mention Isaac Noble and his crummy bitch of a lawyer!

(Audience oohs)

Judge: MR PETERSEN!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_bcf20ca8

Judge: MR PETERSEN! YOU ARE AN UTTER DISGRACE TO THIS COURTROOM TODAY! I shall conclude this trial before anything else gets out of hand! The jury will know go off to decide their verdict...! Thank you...!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_fcf21219

Patrick: Alright Ian, here we go. Decision time. I mean, I know that guy is a prick but, it's looking like it'll be in Chris' favour.
Ian: You reckon?
Patrick: Yeah, that's what I reckon.
Ian: You see I didn't tell you this Patrick, I'm sorry but... I thought you'd better here this now instead of earlier.
Patrick: What's that?
Ian: Well, I had a trick up my sleeve all along.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_9cf21289

Judge: Would you please stand, Mr Osborne.
Chris: ...
Judge: Mr Osborne, how do you plead?
Chris: ...

Chris: Not guilty.

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_bcf2114c

Head Jurer: Yes we have, your honour.
Judge: And your verdict is...?
Head Jurer: ...

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_dcf20aaf

Felix: Oh no, that can't be right!
Victor: The evidence was clear, Ian and Isaac are corrupt! He's innocent!
Rod: I don't believe this shit! I don't fucking believe it!
Felix: What the HELL!? You corrupt pricks!
Victor: Well this can't happen... he's going to go to prison...!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_5cf20a82

Judge: The truth is, this crime you have committed is an example of pure idiocy and is a disgrace to the law of which you serve and is certainly not acceptable in a police environment. I believe you are a disgraceful figure to the Metropolitan Police and its people, and so... Mr Chris Anthony Osborne, for the assault against that of Mr Isaac Stephen James Noble, I have no other choice than to hereby sentence you to twenty-four weeks in Sowma Prison. CASE CLOSED!

Episode Nine (9), Part Two (2) Snapshot_7cf2052d_fcf210f5

...

...

...

Wayne: ... cop scum!

Who's to blame in all of this then? Don't ask me. I wouldn't know. Things seemed to get very complicated up to this point... some thought Chris was innocent, some thought he was guilty, but if you EVER mess the law, you've got to face the consequences. Maybe a new lawyer may be the best option Chris, or maybe you was set to win all along. It was the ONE person... who had to spoil it all.
